Baked Fudge Brownies

Handmade in small batches in Nana’s kitchen 

Old fashioned brownies that are thick, moist and fudgy. A favorite family recipe passed down from generation to generation. We didn’t change anything from the original recipe - it’s simply that good. We LOVE these brownies and you will too!

You will need (not provided):  

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 stick (8 Tablespoons) butter - melted or softened. (To soften leave out on the counter for 2-3 hours OR put in your microwave for 20 seconds at half power - 1100 watt)  


Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven (or toaster oven) to 350 degrees F.

2. In a large bowl, combine packet 1 and oil container (2) and stir.

3. Stir in softened or melted butter. You can chunk up the butter which makes it easier to stir in. Keep stirring until all the butter is incorporated and looks thick and fudgy.  Batter will be very thin if you use melted butter.

4. Add packet 3 and stir until the batter looks like wet sand.

5. Add 3 eggs and mix well. You might consider cracking the eggs in a separate bowl so you don’t get any shells in the batter.

6. Add packet 4 and stir until the batter is mixed thoroughly. You can add the salt packet in at this step or leave it out. Scrape all flour off the sides of the bowl so the dry ingredients are fully incorporated.  

7. You can amp things up by adding a handful of chocolate chips into the batter at this point.  It’s totally optional but delicious.  Chocolate chips not included.  

8. You do not need to spray the pan with anything.  Just fill the pan evenly. 

9. Bake for 55 minutes.  You can test for doneness as the toothpick should feel somewhat sticky in the middle of the pan.  Cool for at least 30 minutes.  

DON’T bake the PLASTIC LID.  The lid is for keeping your brownies fresh AFTER baking.  The lid will melt in the oven! 

The brownies are thick and fudgy with a thin crusty layer on top. Use the plastic knife for cutting the brownies.  


Ingredients:  sugar, unbleached hard red wheat flour, malted barley flour, cane molasses, cocoa, canola oil, dextrose, vanilla beans, cornstarch, sodium bicarbonate, monocalcium phosphate, salt
